Job Description

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the highest quality standards are met throughout the precast concrete manufacturing process. This role leads the QC department, implements testing and inspection protocols, ensures compliance with applicable standards (ASTM, PCI, DOT), and drives continuous improvement in product quality and process efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage all quality control processes and protocols for precast concrete products.
  • Supervise and mentor QC staff, ensuring proper training in testing methods, documentation, and safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements including PCI, ASTM, ACI, and local DOT specifications.
  • Oversee raw material inspections, in-process quality checks, and final product evaluations.
  • Analyze non-conformities and lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action processes (CAPA).
  • Maintain and improve the QC documentation system including records of tests, audits, certifications, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Sales to resolve quality issues and implement design-for-quality principles.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and coordinate third-party inspections and certifications.
  • Lead initiatives in continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) focused on product quality and process efficiency.
  • Serve as the company representative during client visits and audits related to quality assurance.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in quality control/assurance within a precast or concrete manufacturing environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a leadership or managerial role.
  • DOT (Department of Transportation) Experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Materials Science, or a related field a plus.

Certifications:

  • PCI Level I Certified Technician (preferred).
  • ACI Certification (preferred).
  • ISO 9001 and/or Six Sigma certification (a plus).

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of precast concrete manufacturing processes and quality standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in using QC testing equipment and tools.
  • Familiarity with quality management software (e.g., Procore, QMS, SAP).
  • Effective communication skills and ability to interact across multiple departments.
