Job Description

The position of Medical Assistant is integral to the day-to-day operations at The Courtyards Senior Living. The role calls for a dedicated and empathetic professional to deliver high-quality healthcare services to our residents. The Medical Assistant will report to the Head of Healthcare Services and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to form a supportive and efficient healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic medical procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician, such as taking vitals, administering medication, wound care, and assisting with various diagnostic tests.
  • Document patient medical history and symptoms accurately for further medical review, maintaining professional standards of confidentiality.
  • Proactively liaise with other medical professionals for test results and patient diagnosis update.
  • Assist in arranging appointments and relevant transportation for residents to external medical appointments.
  • Participate in relevant staff training programs, workshops, and seminars for continuous professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Certification from an accredited Medical Assistance program is essential, and prior experience in a senior living environment would be an advantage.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification with the ability to react in urgent situations.
  • Sound knowledge of basic medical terminology, electronic health records, and office software.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with residents, their families, and the rest of the healthcare team.
  • Strong empathetic and compassionate qualities, with high levels of patience to work with senior individuals and understand their unique needs and concerns.
