Position Summary:

Our client, a growing dry utilities company is seeking an Underground Utilities Superintendent to oversee underground dry utility projects from start to finish, including managing crews, ensuring safety and quality, and handling budgets and schedules. Key responsibilities include coordinating daily activities, ensuring compliance with safety and project regulations, and serving as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders. The role requires strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on time. Key responsibilities

  • Project management: Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution for underground utility installations like water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
  • Crew and site supervision: Manage and direct daily activities of construction crews and subcontractors, allocating resources like personnel and equipment, and resolve issues that arise.
  • Safety and quality control: Implement and maintain safety programs, conduct regular site inspections, and ensure all work meets quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder communication: Act as the primary liaison with clients, owners, inspectors, suppliers, and other trades to coordinate work and resolve issues.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain project documentation, including daily reports, schedules, change orders, and material logs.

Required qualifications

  • Must have directional drilling experience
  • Proven experience as a superintendent in underground utilities or heavy civil construction.
  • Strong background in civil engineering or construction management is often required.
  • Experience with various construction methods and equipment, such as dewatering systems, earth retention systems, and tunneling, is beneficial.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and specifications and understand project budgets.
  • Proficiency in computer software for project management and communication.
