Responsibilities

Provide lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants. Serve as a lactation-related clinical resource, educator, and mentor.

• Perform initial and on-going assessments of patients' lactation goals and issues.
• Instruct and demonstrate proper techniques and promotes the importance of breastfeeding. 
• Identify the need for standard patient teaching plans and assists with their development. 
• Act as a liaison to staff and physicians when addressing needs associated with breastfeeding. 
• Contribute to the development of data tools to monitor and improve outcomes.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Florida Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job
  transfer date required.
• Certification specializing in Lactation preferred.
• Certification specializing in The S.T.A.B.L.E Program preferred.
• Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of
  Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of
  hire required.

Additional Preferences

•  IBCLC Certification strongly preferred
