Job Description

Position Summary

Provides HR consulting excellence for member cities. Updates and develops HR materials and makes HR presentations as requested under the guidance of the Assistant HR Director.  Assists with internal HR work as needed.

Essential Job Duties

External League HR Programs :

  • Responds to both routine and complex HR-related inquiries from League members by asking questions to understand challenges, appreciate alternate perspectives, brainstorm on best practices, share resources and provide thoughtful suggestions to improve member processes and outcomes.
  • Drafts and updates member HR reference resources residing on our webpage with the lens of prioritizing the League as a resource of choice for our members.
  • Drafts articles on HR topics for League publications as requested.
  • Develops and presents virtual and in-person trainings on human resources, labor relations and management topics. Stays informed of industry information and developments in human resources and labor relations to share best practices assistance to members and assist with HR resource updates.
  • Represents the League to professional human resources groups and member cities, as appropriate.
  • Works with HR & Benefits team to make sure League members and employees receive a timely, coordinated, and consistent approach to issues and concerns.

General

  • Performs other tasks, including internal HR support, as apparent or as assigned by Assistant HR Director.

Core qualifications & Desirables

  • Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, labor relations, business administration, public administration, or a related area.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in generalist HR work or a related area.
  • Strong writing, oral communications, and public speaking/presentation skills.
  • Substantial experience using computer software in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to travel in-state as needed for member in-person presentations.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in human resources management, business administration or public administration or a related area.
  • Substantial experience with labor relations issues in the public sector.
  • Experience as a human resources manager/coordinator in a public setting.
  • Proven experience with public speaking/presentations

Compensation

$100,000.00 - $115,000.00 Annually
