Job Description

Reading Community Television Studios (RCTV) is seeking an experienced, mission-driven leader to serve as our next Executive Director. This is a unique opportunity to lead a respected community media organization that empowers local voices, supports civic engagement, and delivers high-quality public, educational, and government programming to the Town of Reading.

Position Overview

The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of RCTV, responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the organization. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED oversees operations, staff, finances, fundraising, and community partnerships while advancing RCTVs mission and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Board to set and execute strategic vision, goals, and policies
  • Lead long- and short-term planning to ensure organizational growth and relevance
  • Serve as the public face and chief advocate for RCTV in the community

Operations & Staff Management

  • Hire, supervise, develop, and evaluate staff
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture
  • Oversee daily operations, facilities, and production activities
  • Develop and manage the annual budget and financial controls
  • Ensure fiscal responsibility and transparent reporting to the Board
  • Lead fundraising efforts, including grants, sponsorships, events, and donor cultivation

Community & Partnerships

  • Build strong relationships with the Town of Reading, cable providers, schools, nonprofits, and community groups
  • Expand outreach to grow membership, viewership, and participation
  • Promote RCTV services across digital, social, and traditional platforms

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with contracts, regulations, and nonprofit best practices
  • Keep the Board informed of key issues, risks, and opportunities
  • Stay current on trends in community media and nonprofit management

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience in media, communications, nonprofit management, or related field
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in nonprofit, community media, or related organizations
  • Proven ability to manage staff, budgets, and operations
  • Demonstrated fundraising and relationship-building success
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working with boards and volunteers
  • Comfort with digital media, technology, and production environments
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and perspectives

Additional Requirements

  • Valid U.S. drivers license
  • Ability to pass a CORI background check
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Salary commensurate with experience ($75k - $90K)
  • Benefits include paid holidays, sick time, vacation, and access to a 403(b)-retirement plan per the RCTV Employment Handbook
