Position Purpose and Objectives

This position is designed for a skilled Low Voltage Electrician or tradesperson who wants to expand into the fast-growing audio/visual (AV) integration industry. While the role draws on traditional low voltage trade skills (cabling, conduit work, terminations, reading wiring diagrams), it goes beyond by focusing on installing, commissioning, and servicing complex AV systems in commercial and institutional environments.

The Low Voltage Technician (AV Focus) is responsible for installing electronic hardware, cabling, and infrastructure to support ITC’s integrated AV solutions—ranging from conference rooms and classrooms to enterprise-level facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • AV System Installation
    • Install and terminate audio, video, and data cables using solder, compression, or crimp connectors.
    • Mount and secure displays, projectors, projection screens, speakers, microphones, cameras, and other AV hardware.
    • Rack and stack AV equipment per wiring diagrams and system schematics.
    • Commission and test installed AV systems to ensure performance and compliance with project specifications.
  • Low Voltage / Trade-Aligned Tasks
    • Drill, fish, and run cable through drywall, concrete, and conduit.
    • Perform cable pulls, conduit runs, and terminations.
    • Follow wiring diagrams, schematics, and verbal instructions to execute installations.
    • Maintain organized pathways and structured cabling standards.
  • General Construction Support
    • Safely operate hand tools, small power tools, lifts, and ladders (work often above 10 ft).
    • Move and position large equipment and cabling supplies (lifting up to 50 lbs).
    • Complete site cleanup, material organization, and light construction as needed.
  • Team & Client Interaction
    • Work under the direction of Project Managers and Lead AV Technicians.
    • Mentor junior installers and provide hands-on guidance as needed.
    • Communicate professionally with clients and site representatives to ensure expectations are met.
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Prior experience as a Low Voltage Electrician, Cable Installer, or similar trade role.
  • Interest in or exposure to audio/visual integration strongly preferred.
  • CTS certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, cable termination techniques, and wiring standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team mindset.
  • Must pass background check, MVR, and drug test prior to start.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Working Conditions
  • Work split between comfortable indoor environments and active construction job sites.
  • Exposure to hot/cold environments
  • Frequent use of ladders, lifts, and PPE.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive hourly pay: $30-$80/hour (commensurate with experience) or prevailing wage rate where applicable.
  • Paid vacation and sick leave.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Generous per diem for overnight travel.
  • Company-paid travel arrangements (air, ground, hotel).
  • 401(k) with employer contribution (after 1 year).
  • Tools, uniforms, PPE provided plus cell phone stipend.
