Position Overview

As the Deli-Bakery General Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership, development, and success of the department’s daily operations. You will inspire your team to deliver friendly, efficient, and high-quality service while achieving sales, labor, and profit targets. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong sense of accountability and a passion for customer satisfaction, food quality, and team building.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster a positive and respectful team culture through praise, accountability, and timely feedback.
  • Champion outstanding customer service through personal example and team training.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop associates in all aspects of department operations and company procedures.
  • Engage customers by providing courteous, prompt service and utilizing suggestive selling techniques for custom and special orders.
  • Oversee all aspects of Deli-Bakery operations, including receiving, preparing, merchandising, pricing, and maintaining product.
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Lead weekly team meetings focused on sales targets, merchandising strategies, and department goals.
  • Strategically schedule labor to meet service standards and stay within budgeted labor cost percentages.
  • Regularly update merchandising to reflect seasonal trends and maximize sales opportunities.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with company and government policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Prior management experience in retail, food service, or deli/bakery operations required.
  • Hands-on knowledge of deli/bakery equipment and food preparation standards.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a collaborative and professional approach.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and perform physical tasks with regular movement, bending, and reaching.
  • Comfortable working a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid Food Safety Management Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
