A commercial truck driver's job is to safely transport goods and materials to designated locations, which includes pre-trip vehicle inspections, route planning, loading and unloading cargo, and maintaining accurate logs of all activities. They must follow all traffic laws, report mechanical issues, and ensure timely delivery while adhering to company policies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Vehicle operation: Drive commercial vehicles
• Pre- and post-trip inspections: Conduct thorough daily inspections of the truck and trailer for safety issues, fuel levels, and maintenance needs.
• Cargo management: Load, unload, secure, and balance cargo to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed logs of working hours, mileage, fuel, and deliveries, and ensure all shipping paperwork is correct.
• Maintenance: Perform basic vehicle maintenance, such as refueling and cleaning, and report any serious mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
• Compliance and safety: Strictly follow all state and national traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations, including those for hazardous materials.
• Pick up goods and materials, verify loads for accuracy, and deliver them as instructed.
• May be required to work half shift on Sundays.
• Other duties may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School or GED equivalent
• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL)
• Clean driving record
• Traffic laws/ DOT regulations/ driving knowledge
• Ability to lift 30-50+ pounds
• Good time management skills
• Professional appearance; ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
• Minimum 2-3 years CDL driving exp
• Self-Starter and strong initiative

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position will spend 20% of the time in a manufacturing / warehouse environment, 80% of time in tractor-trailer moving finished goods from manufacturing plant to Warehouse a few miles away. During time spent in the warehouse or manufacturing plant, this position is subject to moderate noise levels, very light dust, high and low temperatures and other standard elements of a manufacturing environment.
