Department: Fabrication

Schedule: Monday to Friday 6AM to 4:4PM, must be open to working overtime and some weekends as needed

Position Summary

We are seeking a CNC Machine Operator with experience in sheet metal fabrication to join our production team. In this role, you'll be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machinery to cut, drill, and shape sheet metal components used in electrical power systems for the oil & gas, marine, and energy industries. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will ensure our products meet exacting standards.

Essential Accountabilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, lasers, or punch machines) to process sheet metal parts per engineering specifications.
  
• Load raw sheet metal materials and secure them according to safety and setup instructions.
  
• Interpret and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and CNC programs to ensure accurate production.
  
• Monitor machine operations, make adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tooling to optimize part quality and efficiency.
  
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify dimensional accuracy.
  
• Perform routine machine maintenance including tool changes, coolant checks, and basic troubleshooting.
  
• Work closely with supervisors and senior machinists to ensure production goals are met.
  
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, complying with all company safety policies and procedures.
  
• Continuously develop knowledge of CNC machining techniques, materials, and tooling.

Qualifications

Education & Certifications:

• High school diploma or GED – required
  
• Forklift certification – preferred
  

Experience:

• 2–5 years of hands-on CNC machine operation experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment – required
  

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in reading blueprints, CNC code (G & M code), and setup sheets
  
• Skilled in machine setup, tool selection, and material handling
  
• Familiar with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges
  
• Basic understanding of CNC programming and editing
  
• Experience working with sheet metal materials (aluminum, stainless steel, etc.)
  

Soft Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  
• Safety-conscious with a disciplined approach to machine operation
  
• Team-oriented with good communication skills
  
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and equipment
  

CNC mills, lathes, laser cutters, punch presses, calipers, micrometers, Allen wrenches, grinders, forklifts, cranes, shears, and other standard fabrication tools.

• Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching required.
  
• Environment: Manufacturing floor may involve high heat, humidity, noise, and exposure to mechanical parts and airborne particles.
  
• Safety: PPE must be worn; safety compliance is mandatory.
